The Olskroken grade separation project has been named winner of Årets Bygge 2026 (Construction of the Year) in the infrastructure category. The award is presented by the trade magazine Byggindustrin, and the ceremony took place at Construction Summit in Stockholm on 17 March 2026.
Karlanders, part of Vinga Nordic, contributed to the project with a production manager for BEST (track, power, signalling and telecom), a senior project engineer and a site supervisor for surveying.
Olskroken is a central railway junction where several lines meet, and the only access to Gothenburg Central Station from this direction. The project has added eight new bridges and 10,000 metres of new railway track. The client was the Swedish Transport Administration (Trafikverket) and the main contractor was Peab Anläggning. The project started in 2018, and the final inspection was carried out in September 2025, ahead of the scheduled completion date at the turn of the year 2025/2026.
